幽玄 - Mysterious Beauty

There’s a specific kind of beauty in something that looks like it has already lived a lifetime. We call it koseki sōzen (古色蒼然) - that "ancient and rustic" soul that usually takes decades to find.

With the YŪGEN OBI, we didn't want to just make another belt. We wanted to create a living record of your time on the mats. Working with local specialist MUNI, we’ve hand-dyed these in tiny batches using natural pigments. Unlike industrial dyes that eventually just look "faded," these pigments are meant to weather.

They’re designed to take on a patina that is completely unique to you. Every grip, every roll, and every hour of training adds a new layer to the story. It’s not just a piece of gear; it’s a relic in the making.

Every belt comes wrapped in a unique tenugui (cotton hand towel).

The Details:

• Natural Hand-Dye: Organic pigments that evolve and age gracefully.

• Unique Label: Featuring hand-drawn tsuru (crane) by local artist & the koseki sōzen tagline - rugged, paper-like texture that weathers with the fabric.

• Daiji Kanji: Traditional complex numerals embroidered into the belt body to denote belt size.

• Numbered Edition: This is an extremely small, numbered run for those who appreciate the slow road and the profound grace of the craft.

Once the batch is gone, the vat is empty.

Purchase limit one (1) per colour per customer only. Orders with more than one (1) per colour will be automatically cancelled.

Caring for your YŪGEN OBI                                                                                  Acceleration of weathering / patina will be caused by one or a combination of two or more of the following factors:

• Machine wash
• Chemical-based detergents
• Exposure towards direct sunlight
• Belt lengths have been accounted for shrinkage. Excessive shrinkage may occur if washed after every training session.
